Homemade Bread

Homemade Bread

I only had 350g of bread flour left so I just made a small loaf, you could double the ingredients to make a larger loaf.

Ingredients:

  • 350g bread flour
  • 250ml warm water
  • 2 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt

Method:

  1. In a jug or bowl, mix the yeast, water and honey. Cover and leave for 5-10 mins.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and olive oil. Then add the yeast mixture.
  3. Once fully combined, transfer to a flat surface and knead for 8-10 mins. The dough should be smooth and stretchy.
  4. Place into a greased bowl, cover and leave for 2 hours.
  5. Punch down the dough to remove the air, then flatten into a rectangle.
  6. Fold it twice to make a log shape, then place into a greased loaf tin or an oven tray. Cover and leave for 1 hour.
  7. Optionally, dust with flour and the score the top of the bread. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees celcius for 30 mins.
  8. The bread should sound hollow when you tap on the bottom, if so, it is likely cooked through. Leave to cool on a wire rack and then enjoy!
